Advent Home Learning Center is a childcare agency providing residential care, counseling and remedial schooling to boys 12 to 18 years of age with academic, emotional and spiritual needs. Students are accepted without regard to race, religion, ethnic background or national origin.
Advent Home is located on 225 acres in Calhoun, Tennessee. Since 1985, the mission of Advent Home has been reversing ADHD in a safe, minimum-distraction environment. Their vision recognizes that no healing is complete unless it restores mind, body, and character, and that only God, through His infinite grace, can bring about this change.
The Following Services Are Offered
- Residential Care: A supportive environment is created where the students' safety, security and welfare are of primary importance.
School: Students are tested to assess their academic deficiencies and capabilities, and an individualized study plan is developed.
- Counseling: Interactive and individual counseling, as well as group therapy are available and based on Christian principles.
- Physical Activities: A work study program gives the students opportunities to develop job awareness, skills, and work values with a positive attitude toward all labor.
- Community Involvement: Civic mindedness is encouraged in order to reach out to the community to help others.
- Family Forum: The whole family is brought together for face-to-face communication, interaction and training.
- Public Seminars: Upon request, seminars are conducted on weekends for parents, teachers, pastors, childcare workers and other professionals.
- Benefits: Ninety percent of the students who completed the program and returned home have adjusted well. At least one year after graduation, students have been reported getting along at home, attending school, working and experiencing minimal problems
