Located in the mountains of northwest Puerto Rico, Amanecer Institute is using various health ministries to spread the gospel. Every week the team, led by Roberto Calderon, offers health seminars and clinics throughout the island, with their main emphasis on evangelism through health.
The institute also operates a bakery, health food store, vegetarian restaurant, and a farm. The restaurant serves an average of 60 to 65 customers per day. Organic produce from their farm is sold in the store and the community. Cooking classes, along with canning, freezing and drying techniques are demonstrated at the local public schools, government agencies, Seventh-day Adventist academies, churches, and private homes. Bible studies five days a week, Revelation seminars in the local churches, and English classes are provided for those who are interested. Doors of opportunity open up through two weekly radio broadcasts, one from their local radio station on prophecy and the other from the local Adventist station on health.
Recently Amanecer has added a new aspect to their ministry as they work with 3ABN to produce Spanish programming. They will cover health topics as well as record prophecy seminars, Bible studies, and interviews. The Lord has enabled the team to reach out to people with a variety of backgrounds. People with special health problems are invited to Amanecer where information on diet and treatments are tailored to meet their individual needs.
