Black Hills Health & Education Center is nestled in a canyon valley of South Dakota's Black Hills. Streams, mountains, valleys, and rocky outcroppings provide the backdrop for a lifestyle center and various training courses, where people have experienced life changes for more than 30 years. By addressing the entire body (physical, mental, and spiritual), the team strives to make the center a “guiding light” for people who need to find safety.
The Black Hills staff consists of medical doctors, registered nurses, a registered dietitian, personal trainers, massage therapists, and a full-time Christian counselor. The lifestyle center offers five, 12, and 19-day lifestyle programs that are tailored to the specific needs of guests. Many choose to stay longer than the scheduled programs for further benefit.
The education portion of the ministry offers training in wellness, massage, fitness, and gardening. Each course emphasizes the use of these skills as a tool for ministry. They also offer a 10-month massage school and a two-month personal trainer internship. Soon they hope to begin a program for medical evangelism training.
Black Hills has developing a strong agricultural program. They share their knowledge by taking in interns who wish to learn how to grow healthy food naturally. In addition, Black Hills has increased their focus on community outreach by starting a program that uses personal training, massage, and agriculture to connect with their neighbors. Working together with the local church, they have started a free medical clinic. Several team members travel nationwide, as well, promoting the health message.
For the team at Black Hills, their first priority is to share the message with as many as possible to prepare them for the second coming of Christ.
