New OCI Ministries

Cohutta Springs, GA - The OCI Board met following the Leadership Retreat and voted to accept three new member ministries: A Door of Hope, Adventist Medical Aviation - Venezuela, and The Hope of Survivors.

A Door of Hope Ministries

A Door of HopeBased on Hosea 2:15, A Door of Hope Ministries was formed to address the issues of hurting people. The ministry's mission is to facilitate healing by providing education and counseling to the hurting.

The team of A Door of Hope Ministries recognizes the increased need for ministry to the hurting hearts of Christians. This need is, in a large degree, going unmet. When a person is hurting, depressed, angry, confused, or broken they need a place where they can find freedom to disclose, unconditional acceptance, understanding, truth, sound biblical counsel, and prayer. The purpose of the ministry is to provide for these spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.

A Door of Hope Ministries operates Hope’s House and Haven of Hope, two full time residential counseling facilities for adult women and teen girls who need education, support, and counseling as they journey toward spiritual and emotional wholeness.

Adventist Medical Aviation - Venezuala

AMA Venezuela began operating in early 2002 through Gospel Ministries International (GMI). As Pastor David Gates, president of GMI, flew throughout neighboring Guyana, he received frequent requests for help from the Davis Indians in Venezuela. Many of the villagers have family on both sides of the border. David prayed in faith, asking God to impress someone to come to Venezuela to establish the aviation program.

AMA - VenezuelaAMA provides emergency medical transportation and evangelistic support to dozens of otherwise inaccessible villages, enabling the inhabitants to have another chance at life. Most of our flights involve medical emergencies. These include pregnant mothers in trouble, very sick babies, malaria, appendicitis, broken bones, snakebite victims, and the list goes on. We fly patients out to the hospital in Santa Elena, returning them home upon recovery. The airplane also carries lay workers to the villages. Many areas are opening up to the Gospel because of the medical help provided, resulting in hundreds of baptisms.

The Hope of Survivors

The Hope of SurvivorsThe Hope of Survivors was born one evening in December 2002.  Steve and Samantha reflected on their own experience of pastoral sexual abuse and the lack of resources that were available to help them understand and heal at that time. They felt compelled to develop a web site that would provide information and encouragement to anyone who may be searching for answers. Steve and Samantha felt that if “just one person” could be helped by the web site, then it would be well worth the effort and pain they had gone through.

While Steve and Samantha’s vision was limited in thinking “just one,” the Lord knew how many hurting people there were—suffering all alone and living without hope. There are many “ones” out there who have been touched and blessed by the ministry of The Hope of Survivors. Truly, God does work all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
