Our mission is to represent a loving picture of God while sharing our joy and hope in Christ’s second coming. We want to function as a lighthouse, spreading light, warmth and care as Jesus did.
The Heartgood Foundation, a Supporting Ministry in southeast Norway, focuses on health, agriculture and medical missionary training as a three-fold endeavor to spread the gospel to the surrounding area. A Bible school, health-reconditioning center, organic-biological farm, physical therapy clinic, printing press, health food store and bakery work together to form the foundation.
European Bible School
The European Bible School of Health and Agriculture offers two courses. One of these is a comprehensive one-year program that provides instruction in personal evangelism, foreign mission service, health evangelism and servant leadership. Each course includes immediate practical application. The students get to work with an evangelistic campaign during the evangelism course, travel on a mission trip to Kibidula Farm Institute in Tanzania to experience foreign mission service, offer massage and hydrotherapy treatments to people in the local area while learning preventative health methods, and lead out in many endeavors to practice their new leadership skills. The goal of this course is to equip students for service in their home churches and communities. The second course is a 10-month Organic Agriculture course, which encourages healthy living and applies Bible-based practices of agriculture. The agriculture program teaches the science of organic biological gardening in all its aspects. Students work on the organic farm to put into practice the theory they learn in the classroom.
Fredheim Health Center
Fredheim Health Center lies just 10 kilometers outside of Kongsberg with a beautiful view of the Skrim Mountains. The center has developed a very effective health-reconditioning program. For only 800 US Dollars they offer a twelve-day session with a wide selection of treatments, all monitored by professional, warm and friendly staff. The group size for each program is limited to 25 in order to keep a friendly, home-like atmosphere and really focus on the patients’ needs.
Sunt & Godt Bakery and Health Food Store
Sunt & Godt Bakery, in Skotselv, is the first bakery in Norway to produce bread using sprouted wheat. Using sprouted wheat ensures that the bread contains many more nutrients than regular milled wheat bread. Sunt & Godt bread is the only kind served at Fredheim Health Center, and patients say eating it actually makes them feel healthier. Plus, the bread tastes great. The bakery makes seven different types of loaves, plus cakes, rolls, and granola, so it has something for everyone.
The bakery works hand-in-hand with the Sunt & Godt Health Food Store. The store sells the bread and dry goods (organic seeds, grains, legumes, etc. packed by the bakery), plus it offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian products. In 2002, the post office in Skotselv was moved into the health food store, making it the only post office in Norway that is closed on Sabbath. The post office is a great tool for outreach, because it brings the community into the store and multiplies opportunities for making friends with people and leading them to Christ.
