A new opportunity opened for Adventist medical work to go forward in the Republic of Moldova after the fall of the USSR. This was seen in a most remarkable way through the establishment of the Center of Health and Preventive Medicine. Everyone felt the touch of God's hand in finding a proper place, and a proper person who would lead this center in Moldova. In May 2002 the Center of Health and Preventive Medicine was established as a juridical institution. A plan was made to do the following:
- To organize a Medical Missionary School
- To organize self-supporting industries
- To open children and youth camps
- To open a Health Sanitarium
Some steps towards these goals have already been accomplished. Two camps were bought in 2002 in Sarata Noua in the Southern part of Moldova. A beautiful landscape with green fields, lofty trees, a limpid nearby lake and fresh air allowed for 500 kids to spend an unforgettable time during the summer of 2002. Children were taught how to keep their bodies healthy, how to make their life happier, and how to trust in God.
One of the buildings at another camp was remodeled, opening the doors for the Medical Missionary School. 16 students began their education in the school in September, 2003.
"The children and youth, with their fresh talent, energy, and courage, their quick susceptibilities, are loved of God, and He desires to bring them into harmony with divine agencies. They are to obtain an education that will help them to stand by the side of Christ in unselfish service." MH 395.3
Our school seeks to fulfil these counsels. The students receive a variety of health, spiritual and practical classes. Classes aim to prepare each student to fill a special place in community evangelism, in local church outreach or in a self-supporting ministry. And they are balanced by a daily work program.
